To buy a 250 GTO in the States new, one had to be personally approved by none other than Mr. Enzo Ferrari himself. As the GTO stands for Gran Turismo Omologato, these were serious race cars. Indeed, racing versions won the World Manufacturer's Championship for three consecutive years from 1962-1964.
